# Asking the client a question

If something about a case is unclear, ask through **Request Clarification** on the job rather than in the chat. A clarification is tracked: the client is notified, it's flagged as needing their reply, and their answer and files stay attached to your question.

You can request a clarification before you accept a job or while you're working on it.

## What happens next

1. The job shows **Awaiting client response**.
2. The client answers at the top of the job, with files if needed. Sometimes they check with the treating clinician first, so their reply may take a little longer.
3. You review the answer. If you still have a question, send a new clarification.

Files the client sends with their answer are added to the case's files as the current version.
