# What you pay and when

You pay when you assign a job, and CaseBench holds the payment until the work is complete. The provider only starts once your payment has gone through.

## What makes up your total

| | Amount |
| --------------- | ------------------------ |
| Service price | Set by the provider |
| Platform fee | 12% of the service price |
| Card processing | About 2.9% + 30¢ |

**Example:** a $200 service costs you $231.00: $200 for the provider, a $24.00 platform fee and $7.00 card processing. Every listed price on CaseBench shows "+ fees" for this reason.

All prices are in US dollars.

## How payment works

1. You assign a job and click **Complete Payment**.
2. You pay on a secure Stripe checkout page. If you've saved a card, it's shown so you can confirm it.
3. The payment shows as **Held by CaseBench** while the work is in progress.
4. When the job is complete, it's **Released to provider**. See [Approve, confirm treatment and complete](/help/client-guide/approve-confirm-treatment-and-complete.md).

You'll get a confirmation email with a link to your Stripe receipt, and every receipt is in **Billing** history.

If something goes wrong with the work, request a revision first. If that doesn't resolve it, you can raise a dispute from the job, which puts the payment on hold while CaseBench reviews it.
